Niton Junction, Canada Grande Yellowhead Public School Division Full time

Applications are invited for the position of **Principal**, **Niton Central School** in Niton Junction, Alberta which resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. **Duties will commence at the start of the 25-26 school year until June 30, 2026 or upon return of the incumbent whichever occurs sooner.**

**Role and Responsibilities**
- The responsibilities include:

- Providing instructional leadership to promote high quality teaching and learning.
- Implementing the Teacher Growth, Supervision and Evaluation Policy.
- Providing each student with the opportunity to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams.
- Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
- Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
- Managing school operations and finances.
- Developing a shared responsibility between student, parents, schools and communities.
- Modelling commitment to professional development.

**Requirements**:

- Masters degree in Education is required.
- Bachelors of Education is required.
- Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
- Have experience in implementing the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
- Must possess the Alberta Leadership Quality Standard Certification (LQS).
- In-depth understanding of the Alberta curriculum, current research in assessment, data analysis and instructional coaching are required.
- Prior experience as a school administrator is required.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

**The Division**

Grande Yellowhead School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.

The Boards four priorities are:

- System Health and Wellness

GYPSD schools offer a broad range of JK-12 programs. Principals focus on strong instructional leadership using generative dialogue to support teacher growth and supervision.
