Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a **Design Assistant** to join our **Industrial & Infrastructure Business line** in the **Burnaby/Vancouver office (hybrid).**
**About the Role**
- Support the development of technical documentation and design packages in accordance with project requirements.
- Assist with site visits and field data collection as required.
- Ensure designs comply with BC Hydro standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Review and incorporate field data, survey results, and measurements into design layouts.
- Collaborate with field technicians and engineers to ensure accuracy and feasibility of designs.
- Prepare work packages, including design layouts, material lists, and related project documentation.
- Maintain organized records of design files, revisions, and approvals.
- Work closely with senior designers, engineers, and project managers to deliver high-quality designs on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with team members to resolve design challenges and ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Perform quality checks on design work to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies or issues in project designs.
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship opportunities to build technical skills and understanding of BC Hydro’s design processes.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in utility and electrical distribution design.
**About You**
- Diploma or degree in **Electrical Technology**, **Civil Technology**, **Drafting**, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in electrical distribution design or a related discipline.
- Exposure to BC Hydro standards and tools (e.g., DAD, Passport) is an asset but not required.
- Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems and components.
- Familiarity with **Spida-Calc** for pole loading and structural analysis is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate design work.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Familiarity with BC Hydro’s design processes, standards, and tools (preferred).
- Previous experience or internships in utility design or drafting (preferred).

**Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000**
