**Volunteer Thrift Store Associate**:
The Barkin’ Bin Thrift Store is loaded with new and gently used household items, small furniture, appliances, jewelry, games, sports equipment, pet products and more The Barkin’ Bin makes these items are available to community members at amazing rates.

The Barkin’ Bin is run by volunteers from the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. These volunteers donate their time and skills to help the OMHS keep the Barkin’ Bin going. All proceeds from the Barkin’ Bin Thrift Store go directly to helping animals at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Store Associate to help with receiving donations, sorting incoming product, merchandising retail products, and assisting our Store Leads in the maintenance of all store operations. All while providing excellent customer service to our community members.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Helping to sort incoming donations
- Assisting in the selection of items to retail at the Barkin’ Bin Thrift store
- Pricing sellable articles according to the Barkin’ Bin’s guide lists
- Assisting with store inventory by actively complying with the Barkin’ Bin’s color system
- Merchandising all store inventory in an attractive manner on the sales floor.
- Tidying and rearranging shelves for best use of space.
- Processing thrift store sales using the Barkin’ Bin computer.
- Cash handling and processing payments using a point-of-sale operating machine
- Basic housekeeping duties such as sweeping, dusting shelves, moving racks in and out of the store.
- Following the OMHS’s loss prevention protocols

**Requirements**:

- Must be dependable and punctual
- Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
- Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
- Be willing to work as part of a team
- Must complete a criminal background check
- Must be able to lift and carry 10 pounds
- Following all OMHS protocols
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of OMHS volunteers, partners, and donors

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 4 per week

**Salary**: Up to $1.00 per year

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 4 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Oakville, ON L6K 2C2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- retail: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

Shift availability:

- Day Shift (required)
