As a health and safety coordinator on Pomerleau's construction health and safety team, you will be responsible for implementing the activities planned in the prevention program framework for one or more large-scale building and infrastructure construction projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion. You'll have the opportunity to support all site personnel. You will actively participate in the planning, organization and control of all site activities, with the aim of eliminating health and safety hazards at source, in collaboration with the Health & Safety Manager, the Superintendent(s) and/or Foreman(s) of our organization and those of our partners.
**What You Will Do**
- Ensure compliance with safety standards required by the project's prevention program framework.
- Participate in developing and updating the prevention program for the construction site.
- Oversee the implementation and operation of mechanisms for coordinating the activities of employers on the construction site.
- Identify potentially hazardous situations and act proactively.
- Inspect work sites.
- Ensure that workers are aware of the types of hazards associated with their work.
- Receive accident reports and investigate events that have caused or could have caused an accident.
- Accompany the inspector on inspection visits.
- Be the health and safety reference on site for workers and supervisors.
- Order a work stoppage if the situation so requires.
- Participate in site committee meetings and take minutes.
- Ensure compliance with partner prevention programs.
- Prepare and complete various OHS reports, documents and statistics.
Issue and follow up on notices of non-compliance.
- Greet workers on site.
- Ensure that site equipment and machinery inspections comply with the requirements of the prevention program and/or the manufacturer's manual.
Cooperate with CNESST and other organizations that may visit the site.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety Representative (HSR).
- Compile statistics and report monthly.
- Participate in various OHS meetings.
**This role could be for you if you have**
- Post-secondary education in health and safety considered an asset
- Certificate or attestation recognized by the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the construction industry in a health and safety role
- Experience and knowledge of construction projects
- French and English speak/write
