We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Compliance Officer to join our team.
**Job Summary**:
As a Safety and Compliance Officer, you will ensure the company adheres to all regulatory requirements, maintains safety standards, and effectively manages its assets, including trucks and trailers. You will work closely with drivers, dispatchers, and management to minimize risk, ensure operational efficiency, and optimize the performance of our fleet.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and compliance policies in line with federal and provincial regulations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with transportation laws, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and driver qualifications.
- Conduct regular audits of driver logs, trip reports, and vehicle inspection records.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or safety violations and recommend corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training and education to drivers and staff.
- Maintain records of safety performance, compliance audits, and corrective actions.
- Manage and oversee the maintenance, inspection, and tracking of trucks and trailers to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
- Work with fleet maintenance teams to ensure timely servicing and repairs of vehicles.
- Track and report on asset utilization, condition, and lifecycle to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, ensuring timely submission of necessary documentation and permits.
- Advise management on emerging regulatory changes, safety standards, and best practices in asset management.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in safety and compliance within the transportation or logistics industry.
- Experience in asset management, including fleet maintenance and tracking, is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management software.
- Valid driver’s license; additional certifications in transportation safety or asset management are an asset.
