**_This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA)._**

This position is part-time and has an end date of April 30, 2026. The salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff Agreement.

**Location -** This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at Augustana Campus, Camrose.

**Working for the** **Augustana Faculty**

**Position**

The Varsity Athletics Trainer is responsible to assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of Varsity Health services for Vikings Athletics. The primary purpose of this position is to provide injury response procedures during home games, and to provide clinical therapy services to varsity student-athletes.

**Duties**
- Create and implement injury prevention education and protocols for coaches and student athletes.
- Lead athletic trainer for all court sports, soccer and hockey home games providing emergency assistance and assessment of injuries at those games.
- Lead the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sport based injuries along with the general wellness of Student-Athletes in Vikings Athletics.
- Refer out for additional injury treatment as needed.
- Develop and implement return to play protocols for student athletes.
- Supervise and support student trainers or other wellness staff/volunteers.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required. Master's or PhD Degree is preferred.
- Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C) or Registered Physiotherapist; eligible to practice in the Province of Alberta, and eligible to maintain professional liability & malpractice insurance.
- Previous experience as an Athletic Trainer is preferred.
