**Position Overview**:
The Estimator | Project Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, managing bid processes, and ensuring smooth project handovers. This dual role involves estimating costs, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and assisting with project coordination to ensure successful execution. The Estimator | Project Estimator plays a key role in securing profitable projects and maintaining quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Estimating and Bid Preparation**:
- Analyze project documents (drawings, specifications, and contracts) to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates.
- Prepare competitive bids, considering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Identify project risks and opportunities to optimize profitability.
- Ensure estimates align with market conditions and company goals.
- **Vendor and Subcontractor Management**:
- Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive rates.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to secure favourable terms and reliable services.
- **Project Coordination**:
- Assist project manager in planning and scheduling activities during project handover.
- Provide detailed cost breakdowns and budgets to guide project implementation.
- Support project execution by coordinating with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Track project progress, ensuring that cost, quality, and timeline objectives are met.
- **Cost Tracking and Reporting**:
- Monitor ongoing projects to compare actual costs with estimates, identifying and addressing variances.
- Update and maintain pricing databases based on market trends and insights from completed projects.
- Prepare reports on bidding activity, success rates, and project profitability for management review.
- **Market Research and Strategy**:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material price fluctuations, and new technologies.
- Analyze competitors’ bids and market conditions to maintain competitiveness.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Technical Knowledge**: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant building codes.
- **Estimating Tools**: Proficient with estimating software such as Stack, Bluebeam, Planswift, or Procore.
- **ERP/Project Management**: Experience with ERP or project management systems for tracking estimates and project progress.
- **Analytical Skills**: Exceptional attention to detail for accurate cost analysis and risk assessment.
- **Negotiation Skills**: Ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms from suppliers and subcontractors.
- **Communication Skills**: Clear and professional verbal and written communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- **Project Coordination**: Experience coordinating project schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- **Time Management**: Ability to manage multiple estimates and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
**Education and Experience**
- **Education**:Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- **Experience**:Experience in construction estimating, with project coordination is an asset.
- **Leadership**:Proven ability to work independently and support project teams effectively.
Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
