**About the role**:
The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national exchange program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills (English/French) while gaining important employment experience. Participants, 16 and 17 years of age, travel to another community within Canada - where the other official language predominates - for 6 weeks during the summer. Youth are provided with a homestay and paid employment to deepen the cultural exchange through immersion. They participate in weekly program activities organized by the Local Coordinator in their new community.

The Regional Coordinator will be an important member of the national team delivering this program by ensuring regional participant targets through the development of an effective outreach plan. Each year, the Regional Coordinator will hire, orient, train and supervise Local Coordinators that will directly support exchange participants in their host communities, and Support Coordinators who will act as team leads. Through the Local Coordinators, the Regional Coordinator will ensure that youth are also provided with an appropriate summer work placement.

The Regional Coordinator is responsible to manage and maintain third party relationships with local employers and local support organizations. The Regional Coordinator promotes YMCA programs to the community, employers, and other individuals and organizations to assist the YMCA in achieving program and strategic outcomes.

** Please note this is a bilingual role requiring English and French.**

** Responsibilities**
- Promotion and outreach - Develop and implement a regional promotion and communication plan to achieve provincial youth recruitment targets representative of the demographics of Canada
- Staffing - Hire, orient, train, support and supervise an effective staff team of Local Coordinators who will directly support participants in their host communities, and Support Coordinators who will act as team leads
- Program delivery - Provide service to participants, hosts/families, employers and the general public in both official languages. Effectively problem-solve issues resolve conflicts as they arise, and keep the Manager informed
- Financial management - Follow financial systems and maintain financial reports in line with YMCA policies and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate submission of invoices, expense forms and statistics to both the local and national offices
- Ensure compliance with all terms of the government contribution agreement and contracts including provincial targets, regional expenditure of funds, and financial and statistical reporting
- Demonstrate appropriate behaviors in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; take a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represent the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner
- Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services
- Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with staff, volunteers and members
