**Job Description: Responsible Adult (After-School Childcare)**

**Position Description**:
The Responsible Adult (RA) is responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children attending the program. The RA’s primary role is to provide support with developing and facilitating weekly physical activities; as well as creative arts, educational, recreational and social skills. This position is key in role modelling positive, healthy relationships and encourages and provides time for children and families to interact while in the program.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Acknowledging and actively engaging with children
- Being creative and flexible when meeting the needs of the children and families
- Assisting children in developing and practicing problem solving conflict resolution and communication skills that support relationships and life-long learning and success.
- Engaging children in active, meaningful interactions and allowing children to finish speaking without being interrupted.
- Encouraging children to try new things on their own, and support them to initiate, plan and follow through on their activities.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of the Responsible Adult Course (willing to train the right person)
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with children, youth and families
- Time management skills
- Interpersonal communication with children, youth and adults from diverse backgrounds
- Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children and youth
- Criminal Record Check
- Current First Aid / CPR Certification

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
