**Personal Care Attendant**

**Job description**

Personal Care Attendants will fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a personal care attendant with a pleasant demeanor focusing on providing our residents with a safe and healthy environment. The Personal Care Attendants will provide care and perform selected tasks, which are within their knowledge and skill, under the direction of the Director of Care while adhering to regulatory and company policies and procedures. Full time, part time and on call positions available.

**The Personal Care Attendant will be responsible for**:

- Assisting residents with tasks which may include but are not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, mouth/denture care, nail care, eye care, and toileting on an as needed basis
- Providing companionship and emotional support to residents
- Observing and reporting changes in the health or status of the resident to the Director of Care
- Assist new residents with integration, introducing them to other residents and inviting to participate in activities.
- Encouraging and facilitating residents’ participation in programming, recreation and wellness activities
- Maintaining a caring and interested attitude when dealing with residents and families
- Medication administration, documentation, and assessment
- Performs other related duties when needed
- Demonstrate a strong desire to care for seniors, encouraging participation where possible in the activities of daily living, including the provision of one-on-one care where required.
- Experience working as a personal care attendant or successful completion of a recognized personal care attendant certificate program
- Current first aid and CPR certification
- Ability to follow direction and complete medical documentation
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with residents, families, industry professionals and various community partners
- PCA certificate and/or relevant PCA experience in Personal Care Homes or Long Term Care is preferred but not required.

**Salary**: $16.50 per hour
