Unregulated Care Provider

Job Summary
The Unregulated Care Provider, under the direction of the Director of Care, provides medication administration and leadership in care administration, as well as assistance with tasks of daily living as outlined in the resident's care plan, and in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Unregulated Care Provider will undergo additional company-specific training and require ongoing assessment of compliance with policy and procedure.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform medication administration as per policy and procedures
· Report any medication errors to Director of Care, physician and pharmacy, as well as carry out resident and family follow up as required
· Provide leadership and collaboration with Personal Care Attendant care staff
· Provide care according to established care plan
· Provide personal care that is within the provincial scope of practice for a Personal Care Attendant which may include bathing, dressing, skin care, hair care, mouth care, eye care, toileting, bowel and bladder care, mobility, basic wound care, and assistance with feeding.
· Carry out resident laundry and housekeeping as assigned
· Understand and implement infection prevention practices
· Provide companionship and emotional support to residents
· Observing and reporting changes in the health or status of the resident to the Director of Care
· Assist new residents with integration, introducing them to other residents and inviting to participate in activities
· Encouraging and facilitating resident's participation in programming, recreation, and wellness activities
· Maintaining a caring and interested attitude when dealing with residents and their families
· Participate in proactive Health & Safety screening while performing all duties. Is responsible to notify Director of Care with any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
· Maintain Confidentiality of resident and company information
· Complete timely and appropriate documentation of care delivered
· Complete other tasks as requested
Qualifications
· Experience working as a Personal Care Attendant or successful completion of a recognized Personal Care Attendant certificate program
· Company specific UCP training
· Medication Administration test completion on annual basis, grade minimum requirement of __%
· Active first aid and CPR certification
· Meet onboarding requirements
o Immunization record
o TB testing
o Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
o WHMIS
o Medical completed
Other Skills and Abilities
· Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and reach freely
· Able to lift 23 Kilograms
