Mental Wellness Coordinator (MWC)

1 Position - Open Competition

REPORTS TO: WCHC Health Director

This position is an integral part of a community’s interdisciplinary mental health team Under the direction of the Health Director, the MENTAL WELLNESS COORDINATOR (MWC) provides supervision and direction to the Mental Wellness and Mental Health Care Programs. The leading role of this position is to ensure that effective, efficient service is available to community members requiring prevention, recovery, and supportive services in areas of acute and continual mental illness, addictions. The MWC is also responsible for program development, quality assurance and staff supervision. The MWC works within the community, visiting clients in their homes, as well as at the William Charles Health Centre. The MWC must effectively carry out a series of recovery and supportive activities to clients who are experiencing acute and continual mental illness.

SUPERVISION AND ADMINISTRATION:

- These duties relate to supervising all Mental Wellness staff, professional and non-professional, monitoring the quality and delivery of care and ensuring client/family and Leadership satisfaction with the WCHC MW program. The MWC may:

- Establish health care goals and objectives for strategic planning of MW services
- Participate in meetings of the First Nation as requested
- Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of any certification programs
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and orientation of all new MW staff
- Ensure that all MW staff receive the necessary training/instruction/certification
- Work with office manager to ensure that all staff have job descriptions
- Complete written performance appraisals on all MW staff
- Assist office manager in performing and enforce required oral and written disciplinary measures, as required
- Authorize MW work attendance, sick leave, travel expenses, continuing education requests, purchase order requests and overtime in accordance with Budget
- Ensure that WCHC policies/procedures and goals/objectives are adhered to by MW staff
- Ensure that all necessary reports are completed and submitted as required.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
- Prepare budget and work plans
- Promote program development
- Ensure that all planning activities are completed ie: community needs assessment, policy development, client files, job descriptions, orientation manual, reporting procedures and method of quality assurance.
- Seeks assistance, as required, from both inside and outside the community
- Attend all in-services and meetings that will enhance program development and professional expertise
- Meet regularly with the Health Director AND/OR Health Project Management Team to review plans/activities and to update on MW Program concerns
