A Melt Room Lead Hand is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the electric induction furnaces and Reverb Furnaces. and reports to a Die Cast Shift Supervisor. This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to drive a forklift and to work with molten metal in front of industrial furnaces.
- Hours of Work:_
Weekly rotating shifts
Monday - Thursday
7:00am-5:00pm; 5:00pm-3:00am

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Ensure all aluminum products made by Orlick have proper traceability and identification channels (enter required information on recycled aluminum tag, whiteboard, and aluminum lot number sheet).
- Ensure that during forklift operation by the melt room operators that production scrap bins are safely picked up, and that the scrap hoppers are to be aligned with the charge well.
- Making sure each melt room operator is familiar with and understands the start up procedure of the ingot conveyor line, and understands how to safely start-up the snair ladle and understanding of how to Pre-heat the ladle.
- Training melt room operators to ensure how to safety shut down each day and necessary paperwork/documentation.
- Ensure that each production furnace is maintained in a timely manner and that furnace rodding holes are maintained and sized properly on a daily basis.
- Schedule, take part in and monitor the start-up of any new furnaces, or furnace repairs. Work with maintenance, die cast and melt room to ensure proper dry out, heating and filling, in a safe, timely manner.

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum 5 Years factory/plant work experience. Fork Lift experience required
- Ability to prioritize and multi task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to change Problem solving & troubleshooting skills
- Supervisor experience preferred
- Adaptable to change.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Team player, able to work well with others.
