Production Technician

**Job Title**: Production Technician - Injection Molding

**Reports To**: Injection Molding Manager

**Responsibilities**:

- Complete removal and installation of molds.
- Changeover, set up and startup of molding machines for production. Using alignment gauges and instruments as required.
- Ensures the mold and machine are cleaned, ready for production and that appropriate checks and forms have been filled out.
- Entering setup times in the computer system.
- Record and document cycles and any changes that are made to the original set up sheets.
- Communicate with right teams regarding machine set-ups, enabling team planning for startups and shutdowns.
- Communicate any repair or malfunction of equipment or tooling to the proper support department.
- Preventative maintenance - identify and tag the molds in need of repair; mold sheet completion.
- Follow all Quality procedures at all times; report and communicate all Quality issues to Production.
- Housekeeping, maintaining a clean and safe working area a must; ensuring all tools and equipment are put back in their place; ensure all guards are in place.
- Ensure all tag out/lock out procedures are in place before performing minor equipment repairs or changes.
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Other related duties and projects as required by the Injection Molding Manager.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Proven mechanical and electro-mechanical skills: hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical.
- Grade 12 high school education. Additional technical training considered an asset.
- Experience with set up processes, maintenance, troubleshooting and problem-solving experience required.
- Forklift license and high tonnage crane license.
- Basic understanding of plastics and operation of injection molding machines.
- Strong organizational abilities and time management skills.
- Excellent safety record. Proven ability to avoid compromising safety for speed, production, etc.
- Proven ability and a willingness to fulfill individual responsibilities, while working closely with other operational stakeholders.

**Work Conditions**:

- Must wear all required personal protective equipment: CSA approved safety shoes in good condition, applicable hearing protection, applicable safety glasses and hair net.
- Exposure to hot, humid condition in the summer months.
- Noise exposure.
- Maintain a high degree of constant attention when operating the equipment, in all areas of the plant.
