Production Leader

The Production Leader is directly accountable to the Focused Factory Leader for conducting analysis in Safety, Customer Quality, On-time Delivery, Profitability, and the Environment/5S to determine gaps and root cause; develop and manage countermeasures; and ultimately meeting Spec Furniture’s strategic targets and ensuring an Outstanding Customer Experience from start to finish. This role is responsible for the following outcomes:
**1) Health and Safety**:
Demonstrate leadership in ensuring safe and healthy working conditions and compliance with safety policies. Promote a health and safety culture with a goal of; 0 lost time accidents, 0 medical aid requests and tracking of all first aid requests and near misses
**2) Leadership**:
- Lead and develop high-performing and engaged production teams that consistently utilizes best practices and achieves optimal output.
- Genuinely interested in and has an aptitude for developing and growing others.
- Ensure optimum personnel recruitment by collaborating with Human Resources
- Provide direct reports with the support, motivation, and management they need to meet their job responsibilities effectively; the guidance in putting development/growth plans in place; and the leadership in ensuring plans are realized.
- Maintain up-to-date training matrices and ensure cross-training
- Ensure performance reviews are correct, complete, and on-time.
- Conduct corrective counseling and communicate issues to the Focused Factory Leader, Human Resources, and the Director of Operations
**3) Collaboration**:
Build and sustain a collaborative and trusting relationship with all departments within Spec. Actively support the leadership team in achieving strategic priorities and executing business plans. Actively contribute to Spec’s Operations Team.
**4) Day-to-day Operations**:
- Hold daily production meeting
- Ensure that the Daily Production Plan and customer needs are met by identifying, addressing, and eliminating disruptions (materials, quality, personnel, facilities and equipment, and processes) and coordinate efforts with FFL’s and other staff members.
- Work to achieve 90% defect-free sales orders along with 90% factory on-time delivery
- Organize inventory to prevent shortage, wastage, and damage and to facilitate accessibility for production and accurate counting
- Evaluate impact of inquiries/requests from Planners in production, determine best course of action, and ensure production follow through
**5) Relationship Building**:
Build and maintain customer-focused relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding strategic priorities
**6) Quality**:
Act as a quality champion. Work with suppliers and internal customers to resolve quality or delivery issues. Ensure that activities conform to Company-established quality standards and that non-conforming items are appropriately handled. Ensure that packaging of outgoing products is adequate to prevent damage to products or personnel
**7) Continuous Improvement**:
Leverage LEAN principles in implementing and enhancing continuous improvement initiatives to improve value stream performance in terms of safety, quality, on time delivery, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

- Continually improving manufacturing performance (analyzing and determining performance gaps, identifying root cause, and implementing sustainable solutions)
**Experience and Knowledge Required**:
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent; post-Secondary education, preferred
- Minimum 5 years working in a manufacturing environment, where customized product is the norm
- Proven ability in making considered, decisive decisions within a collaborative environment
- Customer-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to quality
- Champion of safety with good knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Clear communication and effective engagement with others that motivates and stretches the individual and team talents to achieve higher levels of competency
