Reporting to the Director of Bargaining, the Manager of Bargaining is responsible for the operational and managerial oversight of the department. Core duties include the daily management of staff, staff development and growth, supporting bargaining, research and pay equity strategy development and execution.

This role demands a strategic, detail-oriented mindset, with exemplary people skills and the ability to foster outcome-based stakeholder relationships. The Manager of Bargaining will work closely with other departments to ensure a collaborative, organized and seamless bargaining process and campaigns. The role will have a specific focus on supporting the Director of Bargaining, growing and enhancing the bargaining department and supporting staff through mentorship and development.

SEIU is an anti-racist union; this role must lead social justice work associated with the work of the department and staff assigned. This role will be a key stakeholder in working towards economic justice for the members of our union.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- ** Bargaining Strategy Development**
- Formulate and implement innovative and effective bargaining strategies to advance the interests of the union and its members.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of industry trends, economic factors, and relevant legislation to inform negotiation approaches.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize key issues for negotiation.
- As the key bargaining strategist, ensure our bargaining strategy reflects the demonstrated needs emerging from the Labour Relations Department and Fields teams, the current landscape and possible future threats and opportunities.
- Utilizing our internal and external resources, forecast the possible changes to our sectors, and incorporate strategic and tactical proposals to address these possible realities.
- Actively support and lead the bargaining-related aspects of the organizational diversity and equity programs.
- Continuous bargaining process improvements, leveraging technology, learnings from other unions and entities to ensure our processes are best in class.
- ** Bargaining Process Oversight**
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the bargaining process, ensuring adherence to timelines and legal requirements.
- Ensure that members are at the centre of the process. Invoke a culture of member-centricity during all aspects of the bargaining process.
- Coordinates proposal development with the field managers, bargaining representatives, and researchers, providing guidance and support throughout the bargaining cycle.
- Coordinates bargaining activities with the Manager of Action and Campaigns and the member services team.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive bargaining environment to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Review, change and innovate all aspects of our bargaining processes.
- Ensure our processes are documented, consistent, clear and accountability metrics are reviewed and reported.
- Act as the Chief Negotiator for all central tables.
- Oversee the finalization of Collective Agreements, ensuring the efficient drafting and distribution of updated collective agreements.
- Working with the Labour Relations teams, monitor the effective utilization of new or amended collective agreement proposals. Ensure the intent of these proposals is fully utilized.
- ** Collective Agreement Harmonization**
- Work closely with internal departments and external partners to harmonize collective agreements across different sectors and geographical locations.
- Prioritizes the overall reduction of the number of collective agreements within the organization.
- Ensure consistency and equity in contract language, benefits, and working conditions for all union members.
- ** Departmental Oversight**
- Lead the Bargaining Department, maintain continuous oversight of the Bargaining representatives, executive assistant, collective agreement coordinators, pay equity specialists, and researchers.
