IT is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time permanent **GIS Technician** to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company offers excellent working conditions and a learning environment with opportunities for advancement. This role provides support to the survey department with respect to the execution of charting, reporting and GIS deliverables for the survey component of desktop studies, marine route surveys, route engineering and cable installation projects.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Oversee the final production of assigned charting and GIS deliverables, ensuring accuracy and quality
- Coordinate and verify all required information is received to prepare charting deliverables
- Ensure all required charts are obtained, verified, and ready before installation operations
- Design and produce visually appealing maps, marketing materials and report figures
- Perform GIS data management tasks, including GIS georeferencing, data transformation and generation of geodatabases
- Assemble and deliver GIS data packages for clients and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to project documentation, including route position lists, final reports, and other required deliverables
- Prepare and plot high-quality hard-copy maps to support vessel operations

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Required**
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Geomatics, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in an industry-related field
- Advanced ArcGIS Pro proficiency
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Arcade, SQL, or JavaScript
- Advanced understanding of geospatial data management and structure
- Ability to solve spatial and design challenges while adhering to project specifications
- Ability to draft, read, comprehend, and interpret technical specifications
- Ability to draft clear, complete, and concise reporting documents

**Preferred**
- Experience with marine geospatial data types and associated file formats
- Experience with ArcGIS Online
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Experience with Makai software
