**Position purpose**:
Oversee the day-to-day financial activities of the sector to ensure sound financial management and provide advice to senior management in support of long-term strategic planning. Supervise and lead a team of employees responsible for various functions related to the sector's financial and administrative activities, to ensure a productive and supportive environment, and to provide high-level advice and support on more complex issues. May represent senior management on central committees with mandates related to the incumbent's area of responsibility.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:

- Budget: Oversee the administration of internally and externally funded budgets to ensure compliance with established policies. Compare financial statements to budgets of various fund types to identify and correct inconsistencies. Define sector budget priorities and provide expert advice to managers on effective budget preparation, budget projections and deficits. Define key financial performance indicators and monitor their performance.
- Purchasing: Act as approval officer for the procurement of goods and services for the sector, to ensure compliance with supplier contracts.
- Payroll: Oversee the auditing of payroll reports for all employee groups, including part-time support staff and faculty salaries, within the sector, to ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
- Processes and procedures: Design and implement new or modify existing processes, procedures and work methods, and monitor team compliance in order to continuously improve activities to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Records Management: Implement and manage an effective filing and records management system to preserve confidentiality and ensure complete and accurate records are available for future reference or audit.
- Reporting: Prepare and analyze various reports of a medium to high complexity nature on cost-benefit analysis and financial performance of the sector to provide advice and recommendations to management and to contribute to long-term strategic planning.
- Supervision of others: Supervise the work of administrative support staff to organize priorities and advise on the achievement of individual objectives.

**What you will bring**:

- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, normally acquired through post-secondary training in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
