Support the Urban and Away-from-Home (UAH) Team in seeking to expand the scope and function of the FNHA’s responsibilities to support the health and wellness of the UAH First Nations population in BC.

**Title**: Student, Urban and Away from Home
**Salary**: $19.87 - $26.75 - $29.43 per hour (pay range explained below)
**Contract**: Term Sept 8, 2025 - December 19, 2025, with possibility of extension
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Metro Vancouver Office - Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil
- Waututh Nations - (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy)

**About the role**

As a Student, Urban and Away from Home you will support the Urban and Away-from-Home (UAH) Team in expanding the FNHA’s role in promoting the health and wellness of First Nations individuals living away from their home communities in urban areas across British Columbia. Primary role & responsibilities involves;
- Support preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and participating in virtual and in-person engagement activities and events with the UAH population, BC First Nations, urban Indigenous service organizations, and health system partners.
- Participate in internal and external working groups, committees and meetings in support of the health and wellness of the UAH population. Tasks may include drafting presentations and documents, summarizing meetings, tracking next steps, and following up on action items.
- Support the development and implementation of annual communications plans. For example, reviewing and updating the communications list of organizations that provide services to or communicate with the UAH population in BC.
- Support in the preparation and review of briefing notes, reports and other written documents on topics related to the health and wellness of the UAH population.
- Support data entry for various projects
- Support the implementation of the Mobile Device Initiative and the development of a permanent program
- Build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally to the organization.
- Collate, review, synthesize, and summarize information to support activities such as the development of internal e-newsletters.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned

**About you**

To be successful in this role you will have;
**Education**:

- Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate level Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, or other related program required

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:

- Strong analytical thinking skills: ability to organize, synthesize, summarize and critique information.
- Strong research skills: resourcefulness, and the ability to conduct literature reviews.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork/collaboration skills; emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Adaptability; ability to adjust to a changing environment.
- Knowledge of the complexities of UAH population and First Nations history in Canada would be an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of traditional ceremonies and cultural practices is an asset.

The Pay Range is Explained: Bachelor's Year 1 & 2: $19.87/hr, Bachelor's Year 3: $21.11/hr, Bachelor's Year 4: $22.35/hr, Master's Year 1: $24.82/hr, Master's Year 2: $26.98/hr, Graduated Master's: $29.43/hr (experience related to field of study will also be considered when assessing salary placement)
