**RESIDENTIAL SNOW SUPERVISOR ROLE**

Job Overview

The Residential Snow Supervisor oversees snow removal operations, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained, routes are completed efficiently, and operators are performing their duties safely and effectively. This hands-on leadership position requires both technical knowledge and strong people-management skills.

Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 5 years operating equipment (tractor with blower)
- Supervisor must be able to perform the same duties as those they will supervise
- Physically able to climb in/out of tractor and operate safely
- Able to perform basic repairs: Fuel, DEF, Replace Sheer Pins
- Can complete circle check of tractors
- Leadership
- Coaches operators on better performance
- Gives feedback to operators
- Positive attitude with operators
- Acknowledges good work

Expectations

Backup Operator
- Able to run tractor as backup when an operator is absent due to illness, injury, or if their tractor breaks down during a shift

Training & Mentoring
- Able to train operators & demonstrate proper technique when plowing/blowing.
- What a clean site looks like
- How to clean mailboxes
- How to not leave windrows
- How to stay close to pickets
- How to handle Gravel
- How and when to use 4x4
- How to use controls & shift
- How to change pins (without getting in PTO or pinched or crushed)
- How to safely operate
- Where and when to drag vs where and when to blow
- Where and how to aim chutes

Operator Support
- Able to fuel operators during shift
- Prepared to safely recover equipment: must be dressed to be outside in the snow
- Winter jacket
- Snow Pants
- Gloves
- Boots
- Hat / Toque

**Pre-Event Preparation**

Operator Coordination
- Triggers & calls operators in for an event
- Arrives at gas shack 1 hour prior to operators
- Verify Post-Route Inspection Forms are complete
- Ensure operators have their routes
- Ensure operators have their tools
- Ensure coffee and donuts are supplied

Equipment Check
- Starts all tractors
- Ensures tractors are fueled, greased and ready to go
- Wraps up all extension chords

Safety Briefing
- Conducts ‘Tailgate Talks’ with each operator
- Reviews safety procedures
- Highlights issues and concerns

Standby Tractor Readiness
- Ensures standby tractor is ready with:

- Extra pins & tools
- Back-up blower & shaft
- Booster pack
- Straps
- Chains
- Fuel

**During Event Responsibilities**

Route Oversight
- Trails and inspects first 10 homes on each route
- Makes note of issues to be revisited
- Photos and notes to be sent to operators DIRECTLY as feedback. NEVER in group chat with all operators
- Posts examples of good work in group chat & compliments operators
- Carp Pizza, Village Walk, Bell, The Swan, Maple Grove to be done by supervisor while inspecting routes

Operator Support
- Touches base with each operator hourly
- To see if there are any issues
- To track progress and estimate time remaining
- Devises a strategy for ALL tractor operators to finish TOGETHER
- Operators who finish early shall be sent to work on slower routes
- Will inspect last 3 laneways before operators can sign off
- Must have a copy of every operator’s route

Damage Reporting
- Receives reports of damages from operators and immediately notifies management
- ZERO tolerance on not reporting

Monitoring City Plow
- Chases plows & figures out city routes
- Identifies areas that will need to be revisited
- Reports to snow management group

**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
