The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is the largest basic medical science department within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The mission of the Dagnino laboratory is to understand the basis of epithelial tissue development, maintenance, regeneration after injury and neoplastic transformation.

**Responsibilities**:
The Research Technician will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to prepare and conduct various techniques following set protocols and procedures in a research facility related to biomedical research on the role of selected biological processes that modulate skin maintenance and contribute to skin tumour formation. The role will assist with ensuring that equipment related to the research is maintained and operational, and requests servicing of equipment as required. The Research Technician will also contribute to providing training to trainees and lab personnel and facilitate the achievement of research results.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- University Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Biomedical field
- Experience:
- 1 year of experience working in a related research laboratory environment
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with cell culture methodology with the ability to use/learn how to use cell culture equipment
- Ability to identify key results from research, maintain clear, thorough, and up-to-date records of laboratory work, and to summarize research findings
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) with the ability to learn and use software programs
- Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
- Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance techniques and practices
- Verbal and written communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience, with an ability to complete analytics and reports
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to follow formal processes and protocols with high attention to detail
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities with the ability to maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the experimental requirements of research being conducted
- Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
