**Hours**:35 hours per week, primarily weekdays. May be required to work some evenings and weekends

**Sistering** is a multi-service agency that offers practical and emotional support to women and trans people facing a variety of challenging life circumstances, including poverty, homelessness, mental health, substance use and trauma histories.

Sistering operates on a trauma-informed and relationship-based model and our harm reduction philosophy is a core element of all the work we do. Our programs include a low barrier 24/7 Drop-In, Housing and Case Support, Harm Reduction, Peer Outreach and Spun Studio social enterprise.

**Position Summary**:
SPUN Studio is a space for people in the neighbourhood to learn - basic skills, advanced skills, using industrial -level equipment - and to work on their own projects.

**What We Need From You**:

- Operate and engaging community arts space on Bloor St. W. in Toronto that offers a variety of programs including têxtile based, arts and music. You will be providing instruction to people of all ages, identities and abilities
- You bring a strong background and skills in business management, administration, community building and crafts to the role
- You will tell people and organizations we’re here and that we’re here for them. You will work with Sistering to promote the studio
- You will manage the public programming of SPUN Studio
- Collaborate with Sistering on the facility, equipment, basic infrastructure, security and services. Identifying partners and soliciting collaborations.
- Setup the space and ensure it is well maintained. Ensure the space and the equipment are available for use by the instructors, students and renters.
- Establish programs, recruit instructors and assistants; ensure program consistency and quality
- Foster a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Manage volunteers
- Find, orient, schedule instructors and volunteers. Make sure everyone is doing a great job, is safe and happy in the space
- Setup and Eventbrite system for the registrations and rentals. Ensure that all attendees are appropriately registered before the classes begin
- Ensure health and safety and well-being in the studio, establish policies and standards; communicate and enforce

**WORK CONDITIONS**:
This position works in the office and community. Sistering is a 24/7 operation, fast paced, intense environment. There may be the risk of exposure to potentially unpredictable behaviours and situations. Sistering is a pet friendly facility and as such, employees will be expected to be in the proximity of animals.
