Lead Program Supervisor

**Position Summary**: The Lead Program Supervisor (LPS) supports the ELCD in the day-to-day management of the centre, ensuring smooth operations, adherence to licensing regulations, and the delivery of high-quality early learning programs. This role acts as a bridge between classroom teams and leadership, fostering positive relationships with staff, families, and the community while supporting curriculum implementation and program quality.
**Core Duties**
This job description is meant to give an overview of the main responsibilities and expectations for the role. It does not include every task that may come up, as duties can change based on the needs of the children, families, and centre. Flexibility and teamwork are an important part of the role, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
**Program and Curriculum Leadership**
- Provide leadership and support in delivering high-quality early learning programs, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and alignment with the Play and Exploration Philosophy.
- Mentor and coach staff in programming, environment setup, child guidance, staff-child interactions, and professional communication.
- Review programming sheets monthly and meet with the ELCD to discuss quality, goals, and improvements.
- Ensure staff provide child-led, interest-based, and inclusive activities that promote diversity and acceptance.
- Support transitions of children between groups and classrooms, monitoring documentation and updates on the Lillio app.
- Observing and documenting child development on PGELC’s Developmental Checklists to guide programming
**Staff Supervision and Support**
- Monitor staffing ratios, schedule or assist in coverage on the floor.
- Respond to sick calls by arranging casual staff as directed by ELCD.
- Assist in staff onboarding, training, and mentorship, promoting a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Support staff well-being, ensuring they feel safe sharing ideas and contributing to centre goals.
- Resolve staff concerns respectfully, escalating to the Director when necessary.
- Promote professionalism in all staff interactions and lead by modeling positive leadership, flexibility, and adaptability.
**Family and Community Engagement**
- Build positive relationships with families by facilitating tours, answering inquiries, and providing timely communication.
- Monitor family communication via Lillio, ensuring accurate documentation of attendance, transitions, and developmental portfolio updates.
- Communicate effectively with families, schools, and community members through verbal, written, and digital channels.
- Uphold confidentiality in all family, children, staff, and centre matters.
- Welcoming and orientating new families during initial enrollment on the first day.
**Centre Operations and Administration**
- Support the ELCD with day-to-day management, aligning program and operations with PGELC’s mission and vision.
- Maintain attendance records, ensure sign-in/out procedures are followed by staff, and circulate at day’s end to support classroom close-out routines.
- Manage daily use of digital platforms such as Lillio and WhatsApp and answering centre phone.
- Assist ELCD with licensing requirements, fire and health inspections, renewal processes, and fire drills.
- Participate in staff meetings, fundraising events, and staff gatherings.
- Support AGM preparation and yearly financial audits.
- Prepare Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims as directed.
- Order and monitor program and household supplies, maintain inventory of materials.
- Assist in kitchen duties (meal preparation), meal planning and nutrition.
- Manage administrative tasks including scheduling support, filing documents, answering phones, and handling parent inquiries.
**Crisis and Compliance Management**
- Respond to crises or urgent matters in conjunction with the ELCD to ensure child and staff safety.
- Ensure compliance with childcare regulations and health and safety standards.
- Promote inclusive, respectful practices across the centre, supporting both families and staff in a diverse environment.
**Psychological/Physical Demands**
- The physical and mental demands of this role vary throughout the day and may include extended computer use, periods of standing and walking, bending, lifting, and carrying. The work often takes place in a busy, noisy environment and requires a high level of awareness and mental focus at all times when supporting children in the vulnerable sector.

Pay: $22.40-$30.07 per hour
