**PRIMARY FUNCTION**:
The Growing With Grief Program Facilitator is a member of the clinical team that provides supportive grief and bereavement programming for clients of the Centre through the delivery of group activities.
Yorktown Family Services provides a comprehensive range of mental health services for children, youth and families who are experiencing serious emotional/social/behavioural difficulties along with several gender-based violence initiatives. Yorktown is committed to ensuring that all programs produce effective and positive outcomes for clients through evaluation, research and the incorporation of evidence-based services and practices whenever possible. **Principal Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Program Planning, Delivery and Group Facilitation**
- Facilitates in person and/or virtual group programs such as Littles Groups, Middles Group, Youth Group and Family Event programs to bereaved children, youth, and their parents/caregivers
- Plan and design program curriculum, group session activities in collaboration with other staff and/or volunteers
- Co-create pre-program messaging and planning to caregivers and parents about the program.
- Debrief activities and program and process with team
- Plan and conduct family conversations where appropriate
- Prepare, construct, order, purchase program supplies as needed.
- Collect and incorporate feedback from participants in conjunction with R&E and clinical staff.
- Write reports, case notes, program summaries as needed
- Abide by all agency policies and procedures. Ensure proper health and safety protocols and procedures are followed at all times
- Promote, initiate and guide interactions that are characterized by equality and non-judgment
- Maintains an inclusive, compassionate environment for all participants
- Attend team meetings and professional development and supervision sessions as needed
**Specializations**:
**Nature Connection Mentoring**
- Takes active leadership role in nature connected mentoring/programming
- Collaborating with other facilitators and staff and volunteers on nature connection programming
- Consults on logistics of outdoor/indoor/virtual programming
- Set parameters of nature connection activities in consultation with the Centre
- Collaborate with Supervisor to ensure outdoor programming adheres to relevant health and safety guidelines
**Supervision Received**:
Supervision is provided by the Manager of Child, Youth, and Young Adult Mental Health Services; position requires ability to perform with mínimal supervision.
**Supervision Exercised**:
No direct reports. May monitor and collaborate with students and volunteers.
- Evening and weekend hours will be required
- Capacity to work outdoors, indoors and online
- CPR/First Aid certification required
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check required
**Qualifications & Skills**:
**Education**:
Minimum postsecondary degree in a related social services, social work, children and youth work, child life specialist, counselling psychology.
**Experience**:
- Previous experience and/or training with bereavement, grief, loss and trauma
- Minimum 3 years experience working with children and youth
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in community-based services facilitating groups
**Skills**:
- Demonstrated knowledge, competency and recent experience using formal facilitation techniques/counselling, and experiential group processes and approaches from a client centered perspective.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organizational, time and self-management skills. Proven active listening skills. Experience in developing and delivering child/youth and group programming.
- Ability to adapt to changes in circumstances (ex. weather, in person/virtual programming)
- Demonstrated cultural humility.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that allow a high degree of ability to function independently and as a part of the team. Understanding of continuous quality improvement and evaluation principle
