Job Overview:
Black Tar is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreman to join our team. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, from residential to commercial paving. You will lead and manage a team to efficiently complete scheduled paving projects while maintaining quality standards and ensuring safety on job sites. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills and grow with the company.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Perform hot asphalt paving work, including raking and operating paving machines, based on blueprint specifications.
- Direct the crew with a clear vision to improve performance and provide valuable feedback to the COO to improve efficiency.
- Oversee paving crew and projects daily, accountable for establishing, monitoring, and maintaining efficient and safe operating procedures for all paving projects.
- Train and coach the lead hand and crew to sharpen their technical skills and effectively delegate tasks.
- Maintain proper communication with the project management team and maintain a positive and respectful work environment.
- Perform equipment inspections and follow safety procedures for equipment transfer.
- Perform other tasks assigned by management.

Basic Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial asphalt paving and 2 years as an asphalt foreman.
- Critical thinking, risk mitigation, and delegation skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Fluency in written, spoken, and reading English.
- Valid Ontario AR-Class Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends.
- Good physical condition and proof of legal eligibility to work in Canada.
