**Position**: Operations Manager (Permanent, Full-time)
**Reports to**: Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman
**ABOUT US**
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officers, the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth operations of our greenhouse. They will ensure the hydroponic growing systems, automatic harvester, packing line, and associated equipment are working and being maintained as scheduled. They will work alongside the Production Manager to direct all corresponding Operations activities based on the production planning, including harvesting, packing, distribution, maintenance, and will provide hands-on support as needed. They will also establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and external stakeholders.
**DUTIES**
- Performs day-to-day activities; this includes but is not limited to:
- Developing, planning, administering, and directing all unit activities related to equipment, harvesting & packing operations and cleaning.
- Manage shipping activities and inventory
- Motivating and monitoring Operations Team to achieve goals and targets
- Ensuring compliance to safety standards and WorkSafe regulations
- Providing overall support, supervision, and coaching to the Operations Team
- Purchasing miscellaneous supplies, may involve use of personal vehicle.
- Ensuring compliance will all contract obligations
- Developing, reviewing, finalizing, and evaluating SOPs and operational procedures
- Maintains and ensures a safe working environment in the and greenhouse
- Manages a team of machine/equipment operators, labourers, cleaning crew, and other operational staff
- Manage service and maintenance activities on various equipment in the facility
- Will help develop, use, and manage ERP and other operational softwares which are used for all daily tasks
- Communicates and coordinates with contractor workers to ensure adequate coverage throughout the week (including weekends and holidays)
- Plans, sets, and communicates department goals to achieve organizational objectives
- Defines Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Operations Team
- Works with the Human Resources department and the CEOs to deliver performance management to the Operations Team
- Ensures documentation and certification is maintained and up-to-date
- Communicates plans, actions, safety risks, and issues within the Operations Team and inter-departmentally
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
- Other duties as instructed
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under specific timelines
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
**AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or related field
- 3 years of experience working in food production and distribution, plant operations, distribution and packing, or other relevant industries
- Equipment and machine operations experience is required
- Experience leading, motivating, and coaching teams, preferably in an operational setting
- Experience setting KPIs and departmental goals considered an asset
- Ability to foster strong client relationships
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word Outlook, etc.)
- Must have a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license
**WORK CONDITIONS**
- 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- May be requested to support the CEOs or operations on-site outside of regular work hours (i.e., evenings, weekends)
- Must be on-call to contractor supervisors during weekends and holidays, in case of emergencies
- Use of personal vehicle may be required
