Team Alex Suicide Prevention Society is looking for motivated and dedicated individuals to sit on our Board of Directors. We provide training to Minor Sports Coaches on suicide prevention and mental health. This is a volunteer position on a working board that meets twice a month to further our vision of "A World Without Suicide". The following positions are available: **Board Governance** - Develop and maintain a governance manual, which includes our purpose, roles, terms and policies, formal spokes persons, legal obligations, and liabilities. - Coordinate the recruitment process as well as onboarding and training of new Board Members. - Facilitate and update our strategic plan as required. - make recommendations to the Board for Board structure and roles. - Coordinate preparations and facilitate the Annual General Meeting. **Events Coordinator** - Research and plan awareness events. - Plan annual community events. - Plan annual board retreat. - Secure venues in Alberta for training events. - Make recommendations to the Board for new presentation events to organizations in Alberta. - Research events in Alberta with like minded organizations. **Treasurer** - Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards. - Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and forecasts to the Board. - Collaborate with the Board to develop annual budgets and financial plans. - Monitor cash flow, track income and expenses, and make recommendations for effective cash management and investment strategies. - Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other financial documents as required by regulatory authorities. Team Alex is a working Board. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. All Board Members are expected to be actively engaged in affairs of Team Alex and committed to advance any agreed actions. This includes: - Attending Board meetings on a regular basis, serving our committees, and contributing personal, professional, and life experience to the work of the Board. - Staying informed about the activities of Team Alex in the community, and generally about trends and developments in the field of suicide prevention. - Offering their personal perspectives, thoughts, and opinions on topics under discussion and being respectful and open to other thoughts, ideas, opinions, and concerns. - Maintaining solidarity with fellow Board Members in support of a decision made and agreed during a meeting. - Attend and participate in Team Alex events. - Asking for a revision of a decision, if you believe that the Board has acted without full information or is inconsistent with its obligations or responsibilities. - **At Team Alex we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating and inclusive and positive environment for all of our teammates and volunteers.**_ - Hiring is dependent upon applicant providing a Criminal Record Check._ **Job Type**: Casual **Salary**: $1.00 per year Flexible Language Requirement: - French not required Work Location: In person
