Join the Toronto Lands Corporation (TLC) as an Intermediate Land Use Planner and play a key role in ensuring schools are included at the foundation of complete communities. **What you will do**:
**Development Application Coordination & Impact Assessment**
- Work collaboratively with TDSB staff to assess the impact of planning and development activities on school accommodation.
- Conduct site visits of proposed development sites.
**Legislation, Policy & By-law Review**
- Review, apply, and summarize provincial policies and legislation, official plan policies, zoning by-laws.
- Participate in City-initiated studies and policy reviews.
**Planning Support, Research & Advice**
- Provide support, research and planning advice regarding opportunities for new school sites, and real estate/development initiatives across the TDSB portfolio.
- Establish and manage information databases to support project and system-level decision
- Guidance and mentorship to TLC junior planners.
**Reporting & Correspondence**
- Prepare correspondence and reports.
- Produce briefing materials and presentations.
**Stakeholder Engagement & Representation**
- Represent TLC and TDSB’s interests at City of Toronto Committee/ Council meetings, public meetings, and open houses, occasionally outside of regular business hours, as needed.
- Monitor City Council/Committee agendas and reports.
**Legal & Appeal Process Participation**
Prepare for and attend Ontario Land Tribunal / Toronto Local Appeal Body (TLAB) hearings as required.
**What you will have**:
**Education & Professional Credentials**
- University degree in urban planning, with preference for a related Master’s degree.
- Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners in good standing and a Registered Professional Planner (or equivalent).
**Experience**
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant planning work experience.
**Knowledge & Technical Skills**
- Well established and refined writing skills with extensive experience in writing planning reports/correspondence with demonstrated ability to present complex issues to a variety of audiences.
**Analytical & Organizational Skills**
- Ability to work with assignments demanding attention to detail, critical judgement, analytical thinking and problem solving.
- Ability to manage many files and/or projects with changing priorities and levels of complexity.
**Interpersonal & Teamwork Skills**
- Ability to perform effectively on an individual level and within a team.
- Demonstrated ability to be service oriented while still ensuring the public interest is served.

**Additional Requirements**
- Able to attend meetings offsite and sometimes in the evening for TLC business across Toronto.

TLC offers a flexible work environment where we work a minimum of two days per week (Tuesdays/Thursdays) in office.
Our office location will be changing in 2026 to 286 Oak Park Avenue, Toronto.
