**Your opportunity**:
The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences is an academic unit that includes mathematics, computer science and statistics. We can only realize our mission with the dedication and excellence of engaged staff and faculty.

The Department has established a Robotics Program in computer science that promotes research and teaching in some of the most dynamic areas of robotics. As the Department’s robotics technician, you will be the primary point of contact for robotics instructors and will be responsible for implementing all aspects of the undergraduate teaching lab and subsequent liaising with faculty to coordinate experiment set up to compliment theoretical material. The robotics teaching lab has seven collaborative robot arms as well as mobile and soft robots. The incumbent would be responsible for supporting the student projects that run in the lab. In this position you are responsible for the day-to-day operational needs of the robotics undergraduate teaching labs.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees on lab techniques, experimental procedures and protocols
- Preparing, assembling and setting-up material, equipment and supplies according to the needs of the laboratory
- Liaising with course instructors to coordinate experiment set-up to compliment theoretical material
- Maintaining robotics hardware and software
- Providing safety training and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standards
- Implementing plans and process improvements for laboratory activities
- Troubleshooting issues with laboratory equipment
- Disseminating information regarding policies and guidelines to laboratory users

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years of recent experience in Robotics.
- Four years of experience with C++ and Python
- Minimum four years of hands on experience with robotics - preferably a collaborative robot
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including tact and diplomacy when dealing with others
- Excellent attention to detail with high level of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to learn and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good presentation and public speaking skills
- Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent decision making skills with good judgement
- A very high level of muscular coordination and/or manual dexterity to execute very precise and synchronized movements.

**Assets (Nonessential)**:

- Previous experience in an undergraduate teaching lab and/or educational environment an asset.
