A Mary River site based position, reporting to the Health, Safety & Security Superintendent, the Health & Safety (H&S) Analyst provides support to the H&S department in the development, implementation, management, analysis, and auditing of the BIM Health and Safety Management System (HSMS). This position coordinates program and practice reviews and updates, regulatory reviews, incident documentation, and corrective action tracking, intranet development and maintenance. The H&S Analyst inputs, manages and analyses incident and hazard management data using BIM’s incident reporting and statistical tracking spreadsheets and databases. This role also acts as a primary point of contact for analytical and performance measurement data on H&S and the accessibility of all systems, tools and processes through the BIM SharePoint intranet or other web based programs.
Main Accountabilities:
- Administration of all H&S software systems, documents and databases including:
- Developing and delivering HSEST software training for users.
- Assist with the implementation of the Document Management System, software and training
- Collects and analyzes data used for compiling company safety statistics/trends and maintains reports as required for presentation in internal and external reports, developing trends on injuries and illness and any other anomalies.
- Managing records of HSEST monitoring and measurement activities
- Statistical and administrative oversight of the Covid-19 process
- Ensuring H&S critical risk documentation (policies, registers, programs, procedures) are analysed and updated annually
- Ensure the accurate tracking and reporting on incident investigations, corrective and preventive actions and other sources of corrective actions
- Collects, analyses and organizes data related to hazard assessments, ongoing hazard identifications, and incident investigations.
- Assist in incident categorisation/risk ranking and procedural classifications are reviewed and revise annually
- Identify and report on hazard controls in place related to high consequence events.
- Analyses corrective actions to ensure they are effective through control effectiveness audits and daily observation of new corrective actions.
- Provide technical support and guidance in the development and maintenance of all H&S programs software and databases.
- Work directly with Safety Coordinators and H&S Superintendents to the ensure the industrial hygiene program and database is appropriate for the risks and legal requirements of the BIM site
- Conduct H&S related assessments including functional capacity testing, physical demand analysis, and ergonomic evaluation
- Work directly with site Physician Assistants to develop and maintain an employee/contractor health and medical database
- Assist the H&S team in the performance of their duties, with the long term objective to independently perform tasks associated with these positions
- Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports and presentations on injuries and illnesses and writes safe work procedures and training courses.
- Develop, implement and manage the departmental specific H&S induction program and manage the H&S internal on/off-boarding members of H&S and H&S contractors
- Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to site and leadership personnel, on demand, and on a regular basis
- Research, identify and procure all necessary equipment, parts and necessary items for the H&S team through SAP, and maintain an accurate inventory of supplies.
- Works diligently with the Document Management Specialist to ensure consistency and continuity in all H&S documentation
- Prepare agendas and attend H&S meetings, and ensure accurate minutes are taken and any follow up requirements are documented and communicated to the respective stakeholders.
- Oversees and coordinates document management through the H&S SharePoint intranet or other web based programs
Main Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- Diploma in Health & Safety from a vocational institution preferred
- College Diploma in related discipline preferred
