Clinical Informatics Analyst

The Clinical Informatics Analyst functions as a knowledgeable practitioner, and as a consultant, trainer and evaluator to maintain and improve system services and to mentor clinicians and physicians to become efficient users of the organization’s electronic systems and health records, including but not limited to Epic, PSSuites and PointClickCare. The Clinical Informatics Analyst will provide end-user support for the electronic medical records as well maintain system standards by analyzing business operations, prioritizing, and implementing requested changes and upgrades and optimization of clinical software and systems, in coordination and under direction of management. Position Relationships Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Executive, and works collaboratively with the clinical teams to ensure that the Organization’s information technology and communication investment is maximized in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Duties: Work as a consultant, trainer and evaluator to maintain and improve EMR system services and mentor clinicians and physicians to become efficient users of systems and health records. Develop and run reports, dashboards, and data extracts for quality improvement, compliance, and clinical decision support. End User Support Direct training and ongoing support to staff and physicians in the use of technology in person, via phone or virtually. Assist with the creation of training environments, curricula and documentation. Liaise between departments and external vendors and analysts to resolve system problems. System Support Training on downtime procedures. Assist in project planning and allocation of resources. Assist with system testing, upgrades and optimization of software. Record, update and resolve requests using IT service desk system. System Implementation and Adoption Engage project and technology stakeholders to facilitate adoption of systems and processes. Assist in development of training tools and programs for upgrading skills. Lead education efforts and provide training in use of computer hardware, software and processes related to version upgrades, updates and ongoing changes – in adherence to PHIPA. System Design and Optimization Ongoing assessment of effectiveness of technology with respect to enhancing workflow. Solicit and respond to user concerns about systems functionality. Work cooperatively within the organization and external partners. Act as liaison with clinically focused committees and working groups to make recommendations for planning and development of EMR systems. Other duties may be assigned and may not be limited to the scope of an individual department. Qualifications: Post-secondary education in healthcare, business administration, statistics or mathematics, epidemiology, health information or health administration, related discipline or equivalent education and experience required. Two (2) years of relevant experience in health care environment Experience with Epic, PSSuites and/or PointClickCare as asset. Understanding of both clinical and administrative functions and processes. Experience with clinical/informatics education and principles of adult learning. Demonstrated excellence in Microsoft Office products and healthcare-related databases and systems required. Previous experience with chart auditing would be considered an asset. Maintain staff and patient/resident confidentiality. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff including physicians, patient service leaders, Ministry representatives and other client groups. Demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and attention to detail. Demonstrate professional demeanor, flexibility, and adaptability. Excellent verbal, written, facilitative and computer skills required. Exceptional attendance required. Adhere to all policies and procedures. Must agree to adhere to DRDH standards of behaviour.
