As our workforce continues to build Western Canada’s infrastructure, WCS strives to provide our employees with a first class working experience, including: - A strong commitment to safety in the workplace - Competitive wages, benefits, RRSP’s, tool allowance, and safety bonuses - Ongoing career development **DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES**: - Lead and mentor a crew of 15-30 team members made up of drivers, operators, laborer’s and flag persons - Instruct crew on daily activities and follow up to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met - Meet production goals and run-times while maintaining a forward thinking mindset - Complete production reports, material ordered and time logs daily with a high level of accuracy - Keep a detailed record of daily events, communications, weather, delays, equipment issues, employee issues, etc. - Develop and maintain working relationships with customers, consultants, employees, suppliers, colleagues and management - Develop field related policies and standard operating procedures - Maintain a clean and organized work environment with a strict adherence to company equipment and fleet maintenance. **SAFETY**: - Comply with West-Can and Local OH&S regulations - Monitor and enforce employee compliance with West-Can and OH&S regulations - Increase overall Health, Safety and Environmental awareness through pro-active approaches - Hold regular tool-box talks and communicate companywide safety bulletins - Ensure all incidents (near misses, property damage, injuries, environmental, lost time, etc.) are reported and related documentation filled out before the end of the shift. **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**: - Previous experience in a supervisory role - Post-secondary education in Business or Civil Engineering is preferred - Above average Microsoft Office skills - Operational knowledge of equipment and tools used for the job - Experience with construction software (ex. Viewpoint or similar) would be great - Ability to provide a 5 Year Commercial Drivers Abstract with fewer than 6 demerit points and be insurable. **Our peak season is late May through early October and project locations is located anywhere between Alberta and Manitoba. The expectation is to work remotely on the road during our peak season; extended hours of work and overtime will be required. This position is responsible for overseeing daily crew operations, coordinating with owners or general contractors, and ensuring projects are safely completed on time, on budget and in compliance with contractual requirements and specifications.** **All applicants are required to successfully meet all post-offer, pre-employment fit for duty requirements, which includes drug and alcohol testing.** **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent **Salary**: From $30.00 per hour Additional pay: - Overtime pay **Benefits**: - Extended health care - RRSP match Schedule: - 12 hour shift - Monday to Friday - Weekend availability Application question(s): - What percentage of the time are you willing to travel for work during "peak season" (May-early October)? **Education**: - Bachelor's Degree (preferred) **Experience**: - highway construction: 5 years (preferred) - Supervising: 3 years (preferred) Licence/Certification: - Class 5 Licence (preferred)
