**Job Requirements**: Educational Assistants within the classroom provide support and contribute towards the implementation of modified educational programs for children/students with complex cognitive, speech, medical or neuro-developmental and/or challenging behavioural profiles. Educational Programs, classroom activities and daily routines are under the direction and supervision of an Alberta Certified Classroom Teacher. Ability to complete personal care, lifting, and transferring may be integral aspects of this position.

**Chief Responsibilities**:
1. Follow daily plans to carry out programs and activities.

2. Supervise children, ensuring safety considerations are met.

3. Provide positive behavioural supports and developmentally appropriate activities to children/students.

4. Assist in classroom with organization, preparation and construction of materials. Implement and take data on designated programs.

5. Work within a team setting, accepting and giving input from/to all members of the multi-disciplinary team at all stages; from planning to evaluation of children's/student's program.

6. Communicate and forward information relative to children/student, to teacher and appropriate resource team member, if applicable.

7. Direct parental communication to teachers.

8. Supervise children/students at arrival and departure times as designated.

9. Outside of joint planning and/or protected time, there is a primary responsibility for completion of routine events such as laundry and dishes.

10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration.

**Education and Experience**:

- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required.
- Childcare experience also considered.
- University or College Degree or Certification in Human Services, Early Childhood Development, Educational Assistant, Special Education or Early Education Special Needs Certification an asset.
- Related or direct experience with behaviour management is preferred.

Job Type(s): Full-Time; Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14 - 35 per week
