Machinist Apprentice

The primary responsibility of this position is to operate equipment, trained upon, in a safe manner to produce quality parts that meet or exceed the customer’s requirement.
- Operate and set up, under supervised direction, various manual and computer programmed machines
- Check own parts against blue print drawings in various stages of production
- Change tools, inserts and adjust offsets to machinery, once trained on assigned machines
- Identify irregularities in parts and non conformance to quality standards
- Follow all procedures and responsibilities accurately completing appropriate paperwork
- Maintain all work areas in a clean, safe and orderly manner
- Perform duties in a safe manner with focus on accident prevention
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Enrolled in a Machinist Certificate of Qualification program of studies from an accredited college or university is an asset
- Previous mechanical knowledge is an asset
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a definite asset
- KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to communicate clearly
- Interpret blue print drawings and accurately read various measuring tools
- Must have good time management, problem-solving skills, initiative and a commitment to tasks
- Prior exposure with working to quality standards and inspection
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
