LAKERIDGE HEALTH Supervisor, Occupational Health and Safety Occupational Health and Safety Department Human Resources Division REGULAR FULL TIME 8 Hour Day Shifts (Subject to Change) LAKERIDGE HEALTH OSHAWA SALARY $43.75-54.669 Posting # 2200002465 DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES: With five hospital sites, and numerous additional locations across the Durham Region, Lakeridge Health is the largest healthcare employer in the Durham Region. The Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) team at Lakeridge Health is comprised of OHS Specialists, OHS Associates, and OHS team leadership. The OHS team is a part of a broader Human Resources Division. Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety, the role of the Occupational Health & Safety Supervisor is to support, develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety Programs for Lakeridge Health, and provide supervision to the OHS Associates. This role requires travel between Lakeridge Health Sites as Needed. Additional Job Duties Include: - Policy and procedure development and review; - Conduct incident follow-up and investigation, and assist department leaders with same - Work with JHSCs and Department Safety Reps to ensure compliance monitoring and provide support; - Ensure that training and education related to Occupational Health & Safety meets the goals and objectives established by the program ; - Participate in Ministry of Labour and WSIB Excellence Program reporting and inspection requirements. - Perform OHS Risk Assessments and write recommendation reports; - Establish and lead continuous improvement initiatives for OHS; - Liaise with management, unions, external agencies, vendors & consultants; - Occupational Health & Safety promotion; & - Other duties as required/assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: " A Bachelor's degree, or higher education, in a health and safety related discipline (preferred) " Graduate of an Occupational Health & Safety and/or Industrial/Occupational Hygiene program (certificate-level or more advanced) " Three (3) or more years' experience in an Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics and/or Industrial Hygiene role, preferably in a healthcare setting. " Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Canadian Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designation an asset " Experience leading project teams, chairing committees, or supervising others an asset " Experience working in a unionized environment " Advanced knowledge of legislation and regulations covering Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. OHSA, Healthcare and Residential Facilities Regulation, Designated Substances etc.) and Ergonomics " Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills; " Demonstrated tact and experience in leading workplace parties through complex health & safety issues " Interpretative, investigative & consultative skills; " Ability to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate departmental goals and objectives and manage multiple projects simultaneously; Formulate long range plans " Proven ability to work independently with mínimal direction as well as in a collaborative team environment, " Show good judgement, persuasiveness and discretion " Show flexibility and initiative " Must have satisfactory performance record; " Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; " Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and; " Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard; CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
