AECOM GTA is seeking a Tunnel Ventilation and Systems Manager to join our Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance Team in Markham to work with multidisciplinary teams delivering an existing portfolio of projects. The position requires minimum of a BSME or equivalent, with emphasis in HVAC, CFD analyses and/or fire/life safety engineering. A PE license in Ontario is required.

**Job Summary**:

- Help develop strategic plans; build relationships with public and private clients (contractors) and the industry leaders.
- Help grow the tunnel ventilation service in the Transit and Rail practice by the development of pursuit strategies, technical concepts, and proposal technical approaches
- Help identify, attract, and assist in recruiting additional tunneling staff in the GTA, as well as retain, and develop staff to grow the tunnel ventilation service.
- Design and evaluate the technical governance of projects.
- Work within a team structure and deliver an effective technical strategy to manage fit for purpose engineering design and safe project delivery in line with defined employer requirements.
- Preparation, approval, issue, and management of technical specifications.
- Establish and maintain Design Authority arrangements.
- Undertake project governance roles as required.
- Provide technical oversight on technical matters during execution of projects
- Capable of conducting computer analysis; knowledge of SES, CFD, FDS programs a plus
- Familiarity with fans and controls, fire life safety codes (NFPA, AMCA, ASHRAE)
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory approval processes pertaining to engineering
- Experience with systems engineering, integration, equipment testing and implementation
- Demonstrated abilities to work within project timeframes and budget constraints, with the ability to multi-task and thrive as part of a closely managed team
- Good judgment is required on details of work, in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Collaborate with the Tunnel and Underground Engineering Practice
- Control, develop, implementation and oversight of technical engineering strategies, plans and procedures.
- Assist in establishing and developing teaming relationships with other consulting firms as necessary

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering + 10+ years of experience in tunnel ventilation and underground structures
- PEng in Ontario or eligible within 18 months

Preferred Qualifications
- Ideally, 15+ years of tunnel Ventilation and underground structures related experience
- Thoroughly knowledgeable of various tunnel ventilation methods and techniques
- Must have a thorough knowledge of CFD modeling and the ability to mentor and oversee work by Intermediate and Junior engineers
- Strong relationships and name recognition within the industry
- Membership with relevant professional organizations and active participation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills

- Strategic thinker, with demonstrated collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and gain the support of others.
- Ability to work in a matrix organization
- Ability to work with mínimal direction
