Maintenance/labourer

**Overview**

As a member of the Portable Crushing team, the Maintenance/Labourer is responsible for the daily maintenance activity and management for their specific area. The Maintenance position will execute the daily tasks required to maintain the conveyors, crushers, screens, wash plants and related mobile equipment in accordance with Lafarge’s Best Practices and Policies. The incumbent will implement internal processes and controls to drive maintenance efficiency and cost optimization while ensuring worker/contractor safety through compliance with Lafarge and Provincial Safety legislation, policies and procedures.

This position requires afternoon/night shift work and occasional weekend work.

**Responsibilities**

Safety:

- Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
- Administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure that the plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional.

Environmental Management:

- Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Supports the Environmental Department to develop, implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.

Equipment:

- Ensure plant equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.

Maintenance:

- Perform inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program and ensure maintenance activities are scheduled and completed as required
- Assist in tracking maintenance costs and processes to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- The incumbent will be responsible for all plant related administration and play a major part in maintenance planning and scheduling for the same.

Community Relations:

- Support effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities/events and through partnerships with local associations and the business community.

Other:

- Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site

Relationships with Others Jobs
- Reports to the Plant Lead Hand/Plant Manager
- This position requires extensive liaison with the Mobile Equipment operators, Wash Plant operators and Primary Plant Operator.

Specific Accountabilities:

- Safety: Near Miss and HI process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s Risk assessments, WAH permits
- Maintenance: daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspection process, Prioritize, coordinate and perform Maintenance tasks, Job Plans

**Qualifications**
- Education & Work Experience:_
- Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Industrial plant operation experience an asset
- Heavy equipment operation experience an asset
- Knowledge & Skills:_
- Specific mobile equipment training
- Mechanical aptitude / extensive manual labor tasks
- Welding certification ▪ MillWright certification
- Excellent communication, planning & organizational skills
- Good written and verbal communications ▪ Strong analytical skills, research, problem solving and decision making
- Good time management, self directed, uses time wisely, can attend to a broad range of activities

**Salary**: $23.00-$26.00 per hour
