Maintenance Labourer

We are seeking a Maintenance Labourer, Summer Student (Junior Operations Technician) who is eager to learn and will be responsible for providing general labour support to our Operations department. They will work with a team to deliver quality service to the Accora Village community, including our Maintenance Technicians, Building Cleaners, Maintenance Supervisors, Project Managers, Building Service Technicians, and office staff.
- Overseeing the delivery of materials, notices, and equipment to various sites.
- Performing minor repairs and alterations as directed by the Maintenance Technicians, Building Services Technicians, Maintenance Supervisor(s) or Project Managers.
- Aiding in the maintaining and reporting of inventory of Accora Village equipment and materials and assisting in a variety of repair activities, which include but are not limited to wallboard installation, drywall and plaster patching, painting, plumbing/electrical repairs, floor tiling, and carpentry.
- Providing assistance to other staff to enable the completion of work in a timely and secure manner.
- Assisting in groundskeeping and cleaning duties of Accora Village properties when required.
- Initiating work orders on handheld devices and providing written descriptions of work completed.
- Observing and reporting on the state of repair of various elements of Accora Village properties and estimate material and labor requirements for proposed work.

Maintaining the lock and key storage system
- Complying with all Occupational Health and Safety practices and regulations
- Keeping informed of other relevant regulations as outlined in the building, property stands, and fire safety codes.
- Assisting in maintaining an inventory of equipment and stored materials.
- Performing other duties appropriate to the worker’s level of skill and responsibility as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor(s), Maintenance Operations Manager, Project Managers and Sr. Project Manager.

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent
- Current education or a post-secondary degree in Building Technology, Property Management or related field would be considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License with reliable vehicle is a requirement.
- Must be willing and able to provide a valid and current Criminal Background
- Exemplary verbal and written communications skills.
- Proven ability to follow instructions with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a requirement

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Working in a busy work environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work under any weather conditions and temperatures.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
- Competing demands may create stress.
- Physical effort is medium.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted is a requirement.
- Off-site travel is mínimal.
- Regular exposure to outdoor conditions.
