**The Role**: Health and Safety Manager - Ottawa
Reliance Construction of Canada Ltd. is looking to fill the role of a Health and Safety Manager for our Ottawa region that is directly responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with all construction projects and company operations. This individual will proactively plan, direct, and implement the Company’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. HSE Manager ensures compliance and demonstrates a working knowledge of safety rules and regulations with all applicable federal, provincial, local safety related regulations.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Promote and ensure the free flow of information with respect to the company's culture in terms of promotion and integrated management of occupational health and safety
- Resource person for regulations and safety equipment for employees
- Recommend and ensure the updating and implementation of internal standards, policies, programs, procedures and prevention processes for the integration of good practices in occupational health and safety
- Develop tools for analyzing potential risks and good practices in occupational health and safety;
- Perform risk assessment and analyze work-related hazards on construction sites and implement specific prevention programs
- Participate in site analysis meetings. Communicate important information regarding the site in order to prevent, reduce and eliminate the risk of work accidents
- Investigate accidents or major issues and recommend reports and corrective and preventive measures
- As part of a temporary assignment, rehabilitation and return to work, manage and assess the suitability of the position based on the worker's abilities
- Increase managers' and employees' awareness of health and safety issues. Formulate any recommendation or directive to the managers and employees concerned
- Prepare, plan, organize and distribute training and prevention activities for accidents and occupational injuries in companies and on construction sites (work at height, cramped/enclosed spaces,, accident investigations, use of equipment, WHMIS, etc.)
- Responsible for the emergency measures plan, the first aid team and ensures that first aid kits are restocked.
- Responsible for compliance and management of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System). Ensure the updating and distribution of labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- At the request of supplies, may be called upon to assess the risks of new products and make the appropriate recommendations;
- Participate in welcoming new employees;
**What You’ll Need**:

- Preferred completion of diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety; or BAC which includes a certification in health, safety, occupational hygiene or the equivalent
- 5 years in prevention and promotion of health and safety at work, in the construction sector
- Working knowledge of applicable OSH laws, standards and regulations
- Sense of customer service, priority management, work under pressure and ability to intervene
- Hold a valid driver's license and available for frequent travel
