**Duties**:
Under the supervision of government research scientists and academic collaborators, the selected student will be responsible for building a plastic polymer reference library.

**Work environment**:
The Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is located at the National Wildlife Research Centre and has University partners across the country, which allows for close collaboration between government researchers and the students and faculty of different institutions. This student research assistant position will provide the opportunity to collaborate with researchers at Environment and Climate Change Canada, and other government agencies, as well as with faculty and students at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. The selected student would have access to a range of required resources at the National Wildlife Research Centre in order to carry out collaborative work with partners at ECCC.

**Education**:
The Student must be currently enrolled or willing to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate (MSc or PhD) program with full-time student status at the Carleton University or the University of Ottawa. The student must have completed at least one university course in environmental science or chemistry, at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

- Experience with laboratory plastic pollution methods
- Experience working with environmental samples.
