Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 115 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver.**
**What you’ll do**
- Assist in gathering information, analyze data to support development in special projects.
- Assist in ICFR process documentation and gap remediation.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Help maintain accurate records of bank guarantees and parent company guarantees.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Conduct research and contribute to special projects, such as internal process reviews and audits.
- Support the implementation of accounting software tools and processes.
- Perform general administrative tasks as needed.
**What you’ll bring**
- Enrollment in a Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related degree program.
- Previous internship experience or coursework in finance/accounting.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other accounting tools/software (e.g., JD Edwards).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate with teams across operating divisions to gather information for the reports and analyze results.
- Being proactive. Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is an advantage.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
