**Position Title**: Manager, Career and Placement Services
**Status**: Full-Time Administration
**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week

**Salary**: Admin Payband 5 - (Min) $81,106.00 - (Max) $121,659.00
**What you will do**:
Reporting to the Department Head, Student Services, the Manager, Career & Placement Services leads the day-to-day operations of the Career Services and Placement Services departments and a team of eight advisors who assist students with career education, career identification and pursuit of meaningful employment. The manager will also develop and supervise complex administrative tasks that support preparing, placing and supervising all University of Guelph-Humber students in their field placements and internships while ensuring risk and liability is minimized. This role is also accountable for maintaining important University relationships with internal stakeholders as well as outside partners and community groups. A high degree of judgement and diplomacy is required.
**Responsibilities of the Manager, Career & Placement Services include but are not limited to**:
- Playing a vital role in setting the strategic priorities of the department in collaboration with senior leadership including creation, management and evaluation of career education programs that meet the needs of a diverse student and alumni population
- Assessing staffing, resource and space needs to ensure the success of programs and services
- Planning and executing outreach models and service delivery standards including appointments, drop-ins, workshops, advising appointments, virtual service etc.
- Acting on behalf of the unit in formal processes under the Collective Agreement when appropriate and responding to staff/student grievances, accommodations and inquiries
- Coordinating all Human Resource issues in the unit including recruitment, hiring, training, coaching, performance management, authorizing overtime and requests for time off
- Overseeing the maintenance and future development of the university wide career and placement portal, GHworks including communicating with the service provider for ongoing training, site development and to mitigate disruptions to service
- Monitoring and reporting on program budgets; allocating funds appropriately to ensure quality events, activities and resources
- Advising placement staff on complex placement and partnership problems and communicating effectively with other on campus groups including program heads, department head and campus services to generate solutions and ensure alignment with university expectations
**What you bring to the role**:
**Education**
- A Master's Degree with a preference for studies related to Counselling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration or Student Development.
**Experience**
The successful incumbent will have a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role or equivalent.
**Skills**
- Computer software (databases, experience with Banner, and Orbis based software is an asset);
- Mediation, conflict resolution and diplomacy, demonstrated public speaking skills, excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication;
- Program planning and implementation, career exploration, advising and planning;
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, training, coaching and performance management;
- Analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Strong judgement and decision-making skills;
