We are currently looking for a full time **Fleet Manager **to join our growing team
Our ideal hire would have an in-depth understanding of construction machinery and vehicle maintenance. We are looking for a motivated self starter to lead team of mechanics and technicians.
- **As the Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for**:_
- Working with members of Operations, Project Management, Mechanics, Service Technicians and Safety to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of all Forest Contractors Ltd. construction vehicles and equipment, including heavy duty trucks, heavy duty equipment, winter maintenance equipment and all other Forest Contractors Ltd. assets.
- Providing in-depth analysis of operation and maintenance information to produce data and recommendations.
- Identifying cost saving opportunities based on utilization, fuel consumption, oil analysis, telematics data and other information.
- Determining what additional data is necessary to improve cost effective utilization of the fleet and equipment.
- Researching, recommending, and implementing equipment modifications that will improve safety, efficiency and reliability.
- Creating, maintaining and reviewing budgets with the Director of Operations.
- Working with Operations to develop multi-year capital purchase strategies.
- Participating in identifying cost-effective used equipment purchases to reduce capital expenditures while maintaining an effective fleet.
- Creating and maintaining an inventory of all parts, tools, materials, components and accessories to reduce purchases and excess inventory.
- Working with Operations to identify site-level process improvements and improved equipment use.
- Keeping the maintenance program current through continual improvement using pertinent legislation and best practices.
- Recommending and implementing policy and procedure changes regarding the maintenance program through the use of detailed plans.
- Ensuring the licensing, registration and insurance of all vehicles are up-to-date and correct.
- Maintaining equipment files according to National Safety Code (NSC), including Commercial Motor Vehicle Records (CVOR), Commercial Vehicle Inspection Records (CVIR) and repairs.
- Maintaining and updating B2W maintain to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet.
- Ensuring the fleet and equipment is maintained according to manufacturers’ specifications, applicable legislation and Company standards.
- Participating in the selection of shop personnel.
- Working with the shop Lead Hand to supervise the day-to-day operation of the shop staff including creating a daily schedule for all Shop Technicians, establishing priorities and assigning and reviewing work.
- Preparing and planning winter season start up including the transition between summer and winter equipment/attachments.
- Maintaining winter equipment repair logs
- Ensuring the fleet image is upheld to the highest standard (i.e., paint, logos)
- Travelling to various sites and locations, as required.
- Other duties as requested by the Director of Operations.
- Knowledge of heavy vehicles and equipment.
- Mechanical experience and the ability to read and understand technical drawings and sheets preferred.
- 310T Mechanic license preferred.
- The ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organization, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A professional attitude and demeanor.
- The ability to use technology including computers and computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel) as well as the ability to learn new and company specific computer programs.
- A safety conscious attitude.
- In-depth knowledge of all CVOR requirements such as logbooks, hours of service, cargo securement, inspections, pre-trip inspections, etc.
- A college or university diploma or degree in related field or related experience.
- 10 years minimum experience in the heavy construction industry.
- 3 years of fleet management experience.
- 2 years of experience developing and/or implementing maintenance programs.
