**Responsibilities**:
The Research Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the Trials stream of programming within the Clinical Research portfolio at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, with a focus on First in Human studies. The role will support the day-to-day administrative, financial and logístical functions, and will participate in the analysis and dissemination of research findings. The Research Coordinator will assist in the development, coordination, and evaluation of project initiatives, and participate in the facilitation and implementation of the project through involvement with different aspects of the research, including working closely with partners. The role will be a primary point of contact for all internal and external inquiries related to the projects and will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the projects, and ensuring that the outcomes are achieved. The position will prepare project status reports, ensure that stakeholders are kept informed of progress and that the outcomes are achieved within time and budgetary constraints, and in compliance with relevant guidelines. The Research Coordinator will liaise with a variety of partners to build research capacity and ensure the successful coordination of all tasks to achieve the research outcomes.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- Master’s Degree preferred
**Experience**:
- 5 years of experience in research administration in an academic environment
- Experience in preparing research budgets and monitoring accounts
- Experience working in a clinical research environment is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with clinical research and of the regulations and guidelines governing research in an academic environment
- Familiarity with financial principles and budgeting with the ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
- Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
- Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Interpersonal skills to liaise with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community
- Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Familiarity with University research policies and practices
