Aircraft Assembly Technician

Avwind is a Transport Canada-approved aerospace maintenance organization specializing in the repair and overhaul of generators and APUs for leading commercial aircraft. We pride ourselves on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
**Role Overview**
As an **Assembly Technician**, you will build precision rotor and stator assemblies for APU and IDG generators used on aircraft such as Airbus A320/A330 and Boeing 737. You’ll work from detailed engineering data to deliver assemblies that meet rigorous airworthiness standards.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assemble rotor and stator sub-assemblies to specified sequences and torque values
- Install bearings, seals, windings, harnesses and connectors per engineering data
- Review and stamp work orders at each assembly stage (typically 2-6 orders/day)
- Record torque readings, and inspection results accurately
- Perform in-process inspections (dimension checks, clearance verifications)
- Adhere strictly to Transport Canada and company procedures
- Report non-conformances and collaborate on corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation; comply with all PPE and lock-out/tag-out protocols
- Identify and report hazards or equipment issues immediately
- Communicate progress, delays, and technical questions to the Production Manager
- Cross-train on related assemblies (APU generators, other IDG models) as needed
- Mentor and support junior assemblers when they join the team
- Use hand and manual dexterity to complete assigned tasks
- Able to use hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, digital calipers etc.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Learn new skills and techniques related to aviation repair
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of production parts
**Requirements**:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Technology or equivalent hands-on experience
- 1-3 years of precision assembly experience in aerospace or related high-reg industries
- Comfortable reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics
- Proficient with hand tools (calipers, torque wrenches, pliers, cutters), ohm meters, megohmmeters
- Basic familiarity with APU/IDG generator components an asset
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Strong time management and reliable attendance record
- Clear communication in English (oral & written)
- Team-oriented with a positive, “safety first” mindset
