**Position Overview**
Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our metal recycling facility. While the position will be based out of Campbell River, the duties and responsibilities will span both the Campbell River and Nanaimo locations. This role will provide daily direction and leadership to the yard crew to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives, while also ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
**Responsibilities**
- ** Health, Safety & Environment**:Oversee all Health & Safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for employees, customers, and visitors.
- ** Operations Management**:Execute daily production, processing, and shipping plans to meet targets and KPIs across both sites.
- ** Budget & Resource Planning**: Operate within budget parameters, balancing equipment needs, environmental responsibilities, and business growth.
- ** People & Performance**: Manage training, performance, and staffing, fostering a strong, accountable team culture.
- ** Yard Oversight**: Lead scale operations, security, operate equipment as needed, and general site functions to support smooth day-to-day operations.
- ** Continuous Improvement**:Track operational data, identifies inefficiencies, and implements process improvements.
- ** Multi-Site Support**:Support and travel between Campbell River and Nanaimo, ensuring alignment and consistency across both locations.
**Qualifications**
- 2+ years previous experience in a heavy industrial setting.
- Experience managing a diverse team with varying skills, education and training levels.
- Experienced in implementing continuous improvement and quality assessment programs is an asset.
- Able to operate one or more of: Excavator, Mobile Shear, Skid Steer or Grapple (Material Handler).
- Able to travel between Island Locations
- Adept at using MS Office suite.
- Ability to develop and build relationships both internally and externally to the organization.
- Manufacturing or logistics background is an asset.
- Metal recycling background is also considered an asset.
