THE OPPORTUNITY - HOUSING SERVICES PRACTITIONER - ULTRA COMPLEX NEEDS

HSP’s at Vecova provide excellent services and supports to adults of all abilities in a variety of settings; they require strong organizational skills and the ability to establish collaborative and effective relationships with others. In our ultra-complex behavioural needs group home, in addition to a developmental disability, consumers need additional supports due to complex behavioural needs, or a mental health diagnoses. This involves a 24-hour staffing model to help provide support to our consumers, creating positions for our team members to work during the day, evening, night (awake), weekdays and weekends.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Identifying behaviours of concern, developing, reviewing, implementing and monitoring of plans that assist individuals
- Assisting or providing support in personal care routines such as bathing, dressing, and grooming when needed
- Assisting or providing support to consumers to maintain health, i.e. attending medical appointments, medication administration, liaising with pharmacy, education around healthy eating, and emotional support
- Providing some aspects of home maintenance and supporting individuals in their daily routines such as, meal preparation, shopping, cleaning and laundry
- Assisting individuals in the development of social skills and meaningful relationships
- Providing assistance to individuals in managing their personal affairs, such as banking and budgeting, paying bills, etc.
- Supporting individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, and advocate for the services they require

WHAT YOU BRING
We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:

- Diploma and/or Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies or a related social science
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals of all abilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
- Well developed and effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Demonstrated skill in critical thinking
- Passion for working with clients who have ultra-complex behavioural needs
