**ROLE**

The Commissioning Specialist is responsible to ensure building mechanical and electrical systems are designed, installed, and operated according to the Owner’s operational goals. Commissioned systems include major building systems such as heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment (HVAC&R), domestic water systems, energy and water sub-meters, renewable energy systems, and lighting systems.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities **include, but are not limited to the following.
- Lead, manage and execute multiple commissioning projects that are in various stages of design, construction and warranty periods.
- Monitor project tasks to maintain budget, schedule and scope of work.
- Responsible for all written work submitted to the client.
- Act as primary client contact for the overall commissioning process.
- Delegate work to support staff and provide training/mentorship as required.
- Develop and issue Owner’s Project Requirements.
- Review basis of design / design drawings and coordinate with engineer / developer to ensure Owner’s project requirements are implemented prior to construction documentation.
- During the design phase, review mechanical/electrical drawings to ensure they meet the operational and energy efficiency goals of the project.
- Review contractor shop drawings for accuracy and consistency with the Owner’s overall intent.
- Perform site inspections to verify the installation and functionality of mechanical/electrical building systems in large multiunit residential, mixed-use, and commercial buildings.
- Lead commissioning meetings and interface with the project associated contractors as necessary in order to complete project requirements.
- Attend site meetings with trades to review construction process and discuss issues related to building systems.
- Prepare and deliver field review reports to clients.
- Diagnose and report on operational issues related to building systems. Create issues logs with periodic updates to ensure outstanding issues are resolved and corrected.
- Perform and/or witness equipment start-up and various pre-functional/functional testing systems.
- Coordinate and organize training of the owner’s O&M personnel.
- Any and all other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, diploma engineering/construction technology, or a closely related field.
- Pursuing professional designation such as P.Eng or CET.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in building commissioning, HVAC design, controls or a closely related field.
- Proficiency with construction drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver's license & vehicle an asset. This position will require travel within GTA.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Sound problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Able to manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
