**The opportunity**:
The Research and Special Projects Coordinator position is required for the establishment and ongoing coordination of MCIEB activities such as an Elders Council, annual Blueprint conference, identified collaborative projects and identified priority areas of the Blueprint signatories. Reporting to and working closely with the MCIEB and Community Partnership Managers, the Research and Special Projects Coordinator will conduct the necessary research to inform the establishment of structures for the implementation and ongoing coordination of these activities.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institute required.
- Bachelor's degree in Indigenous studies, History, Human Rights, Education, Communications, Business Administration preferred.
- Consideration may be given to individuals with sufficient combined education, lived, and professional experience.
- Minimum four years of experience in a field related to advancing Indigenous education required.
- Experience in coordinating projects and events and working collaboratively with others is required.
- Experience working with Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous communities, and educational institutions is required.
- Previous administrative experience in an academic setting is preferred.
- Experience in writing funding proposals and funder reports is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, colonization, socio-economic issues, and importance of self-determination is required.
- Highly organized, task and detail oriented, capable of meeting tight deadlines required.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills required.
- Must be able to think critically and take the initiative to solve problems.
- Must have a strong work ethic and able to work independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to navigate political, academic, and industry expectations diplomatically.
- Strong interpersonal understanding of Indigenous ways of relating, communicating, systems of reciprocity, and protocol around requests for time, knowledge sharing, or conducting ceremony is required.
- High level of commitment to the University of Manitoba community and to the mission of Indigenous engagement and achievement required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and video conferencing platforms are essential.
- Proficiency with Contract/Project Management Software and other software’s (Doodle, Calendly, Google Drive, Mural, Trello preferred.
- Knowledge of the university's financial system Aurora (EPIC, Concur, Fast Finance) an asset.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and establish work priorities and deadlines required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately under pressure required.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts required.
- Ability to gather, develop, and present information as well as provide advice required.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments required.
- Ability to process large numbers of documents with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail in order to meet strict deadlines required.
- Ability to think critically and creatively required.
- Ability to lead, create and coordinate new initiatives with key stakeholders required.
- Ability to monitor expenses and project budgets is required.
- Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports on project activities, to track and assess progress and address challenges as they occur.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
