**Job Description Summary**:
The building systems specialist is responsible for supporting the repair, maintenance and improvements of the building infrastructure and systems. The building systems specialist will hold at a minimum a Class 4 Power Engineer's license, certified to operate equipment and processes that are regulated by the BC Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulation.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Execute the maintenance program activities including but not limited to: inspecting, monitoring and maintaining the facility according to the maintenance program specifications and simultaneously record all work performed on controlled documentation. Building-related operations include clean room operation and maintenance of water systems, compressed gas systems, compressors, boilers, fume hoods, exhaust fans, chillers, pumps, HVAC and humidifier.
- Coordinate and/or execute scheduled maintenance work with user groups and contractors, including working during non-business hours when required to minimize operation downtime.
- Respond to after hour calls.
- Ensure that building-related operations and maintenance are conducted in accordance with STEMCELL's Quality Management System (QMS), including ISO13485 and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Conduct and document commissioning and qualification activities. Document deficiencies and conformances and complete reports as required.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the preventive maintenance program, including scheduling adjustments, contractor reviews, and recommendations.
- Adhere to and contribute to promoting a high level of safety within the lab, manufacturing and building environments.
- Assist in operational activities and cross-functional projects and/or programs as required.

**Knowledge and Qualifications**
- Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate with 1 to 3 years of experience.
- Post Secondary Certificate or Diploma in a Mechanical or Electrical field is an asset.
- Experience in a Biotech or GMP facility preferred. Customer focused mindset with excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new programs as required.
- Hands-on knowledge/experience with steam, compressed air, hydronic, water systems, chillers, HVAC, electrical distribution and process piping systems.
- Previous work experience in a biotech/GMP facility is preferred.
- Highly organized with strong time management and documentation skills.
- Safety oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both in one-on-one and in a group setting.
- Team oriented yet self-motivated and mature to work independently, detail-oriented and proficient at time management.
